Jack The Ripper



Jack the Ripper who known as the serial killer who was active in murdering and removing organs of his victim in East End London, Whitechapel. The case was in the people's lips during the Victorian Era, 1888. His name was originated in a letter, written by someone claiming to be the murderer, that was disseminated in the media. The letter is widely believed to have been a hoax, and may have been written by a journalist in a deliberate attempt to heighten interest in the story. Other nicknames used for the killer at the time were "The Whitechapel Murderer" and "Leather Apron".

It was believed that most of Jack the Ripper's victims are female prostitutes from the slum. Most famous canonical five victim's of Jack the Ripper are Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes and Mary Jane Kelly. Their throat were being slit and their organs were being removed. Due to this method of serial killing, it has lead to the people's mind that the serial killer might has medical background like know about surgical and human anatomy knowledge. However, according to some investigators, Jack the Ripper might be someone who knows about butchery or horse slaughterer. There are more than 200 suspects for Jack the Ripper due their similar modus operandi.

  • Mary Nichols, murdered on 31st August 1888.
  • Annie Chapman, murdered on 8th September 1888.
  • Elizabeth Stride, murdered on 30th September 1888.
  • Catherine Eddowes, also murdered on 30th September 1888.
  • Mary Kelly, murdered on 9th November 1888.
The canonical five

Over the course of the Ripper murders, the police and newspapers had received many letters regarding the case. A few letters have caught the eye of the police officer of Whitechapel, in which it claimed to have been written by the killer itself. The letter were named "Dear Boss", "Saucy Jacky" and "From Hell".
