Language: We never realized.

We never realized that we actually have used a lot of euphemistic language. Euphemistic language is words to replace certain words of direct meaning which will either hurt someone or offense someone greatly. However, dysphemistic language is an offensive expression that deliberate from the neutral words.



This task is to find Euphemism and Dysphemism language was given by my lecturer. I have to search for 5 euphemisms or dysphemisms words in one of the article in TIME magazine.

CLEANING UP AFRICA'S CORRUPTION BY SCOTT JOHNSON

1. Although the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act has been on the books for decades as  tool for U.S prosecutors going after American business for fraud or bribery abroad, it's been used haphazardly by previous administration- particularly when it comes Africa.

3. The administration already netted its first high profile case: former U.S congressman William Jefferson was charged with violating FCPA regulations in August in connection with a business deal in Nigeria.

4. The sudden action has excited Africa's antigraft crusaders.

5. China, which is now the continent's largest trading partner, has a reputation for turning a blind eye towards corruption.
